Through the creation of a comprehensive digital archive and website, the Foundation will establish a vital resource for future academic and artistic exploration. The preservation of this unique Palestinian and Arab cultural heritage will pave the way for impactful exhibitions and partnerships with institutions, furthering Boullata’s influence across generations.

Led by Lily Farhoud, Kamal’s partner in life and creativity, the year-long project will archive Kamal’s artworks, writings, designs and photographs.

KAMAL BOULLATA

Kamal Boullata (1942–2019) was a celebrated Palestinian artist and writer known for his intricate geometric compositions that blend traditional Islamic art with modern abstraction. Born in Jerusalem, his works often explore themes of identity, exile, and the interplay of light and color. Boullata’s art is deeply influenced by Arabic calligraphy, merging linguistic and visual expression into vibrant, contemplative pieces. Beyond his paintings, he authored critical texts on Palestinian and Middle Eastern art, solidifying his legacy as both a creator and a cultural historian.
